Miracle Rovery After Tractor Accident
Mr. Smith came to Providence Pointe Healthcare after a traumatic tractor accident left him with severe leg injuries to both legs. He and his wife were new to the area, and this unfortunate incident really turned their lives upside down. He admitted to Providence Pointe Healthcare to dedicate himself to rehabilitation that would help him get back to his normal lifestyle at home with this wife and three golden retrievers. His wife brings their beloved dogs to visit often and they’ve made fast friends with the other residents and staff.
"I was a very active person before this accident, and I never imagined something like this would happen to me. But, I couldn’t have chosen a better place to come and recover. There’s a real family atmosphere here. All the people are great and everyone is really supportive. The staff work as a unit between all positions. There are so many people that went above and beyond for me.” — Leonard Smith
The Challenge
Mr Smith’s accident left him with a broken left ankle, dislocated toes on his right foot, broken bones in multiple places on both legs, and a back injury. When he admitted, he was fresh out of surgery, both legs were cast, and he could not put weight on either leg.
The Results
Fast forward fourteen weeks later, and Mr. Smith is walking with a walker as far as he wishes. His casts are gone, pins removed, and he is panning to discharge and go back home to resume his normal lifestyle very soon.
Even though Mr. Smith is almost completely recovered now, he and his wife can’t wait to visit the new facility and are making plans to bring their dogs back to visit some of their favorite residents and therapists in the future.
